According to the guidelines given by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, a legal mandate has been issued to get Room Layout Approval and Registration/License for all X Ray equipment installed in your institute. The heart of the Registration/Licensing process is the Quality Assurance done on every equipment installed.
What is Quality Assurance? It is a set of performance tests performed on a particular X Ray diagnostic equipment that verifies whether the Output Primary radiation and the Leakage Secondary Radiation is within tolerance limits specified by AERB. In addition to this, it also takes care of the image quality of the equipment.

Benefits/ Need for Quality Assurance:
- QA of all X Ray installation is mandatory as per Atomic Energy Act.
- Improve efficiency of Radiation output delivered by any equipment, thereby reducing absorbed body dose and improved image quality.
- Suffice Quality Standards required by Regulatory and other Benchmarking Councils and organization such as: AERB, NABH, DCI, MCI, DHS, CGHS, ECHS.
AERB has launched eLORA – a tool for online Licensing Of Radiation Applications eLORA (e-Licensing Of Radiation Applications), an e-Governance initiative by AERB, is a web-based application for automation of regulatory processes for various Radiation Facilities in India. The objective of the project is to enhance efficiency and transparency in the regulatory processes of AERB. The system is aimed at achieving paperless licensing of Radiation Facilities.
